Hi, I'm Lauren!

Let's get to know each other

Hi, I'm Lauren. I'm a 20 year old photographer who loves capturing real, authentic and memorable moments. I'm currently in an exploratory phase of my photography so my work reflects a curiosity for many different styles and subjects. I believe trying everything is the best way to learn and discover elements of both myself and my photography. I approach every opportunity as a chance to grow, create something meaningful and help people tell their stories visually. Everyday I am thankful that I get to  experience real moments  and help preserve them into the future. Beyond photography, I'm deeply influenced by music, reading and film, all forms of visual and emotional storytelling. My work is an ongoing journey and I always look forward to the next chapter.

2023 Dorset Arts Prize Finalist

In 2023 I entered the Dorset Arts Prize for the first time. Prior to this I was unaware of the Art competition but was made aware of it by one of my College lecturers. The Dorset Arts Prize brings together many different styles of art to showcase expression, perspective and unique ability. As a passionate photographer and lover of art, this was not only an opportunity in a professional sense but also a personal one. Seeing others appreciate your work is no small thing for anyone that works in an artistic industry. Being named a finalist also meant my photo would be included in a public art exhibition, a very surreal and meaningful moment. This photo was taken in Waterloo Station, London. A moment of impulsive artistic thought.

2024 Dorset Arts Prize Finalist

In 2024 I entered the Dorset Arts Prize for the second time, this through a college project based on the single word "journey". Rather than interpreting this as physical travel, I chose to explore an inward and psychological process, working through personal experiences with body image and self perception. The piece centres around the feeling of being lost within the shadows of the mind, where confidence and identity can become obscured by inner narrative. I referenced Aphrodite symbolically within the conceptual framework; not as a literal subject, but as a representation of body acceptance and inherent worth. What she stands for; Love, Beauty and creation contrasted deliberately with the emotional tension expressed in the imagery of this specific photo. Submitting this piece to the Dorset Arts Prize was important to me because it marked growth not only in technical execution but in conceptual storytelling, allowing a more introspective and emotionally grounded narrative to take visual form. I choose to believe that this photo making it to the final shows a level of relatability and appreciation in the depth and beauty of a journey.

"The best thing about a picture is that it never changes, even when the people in it do."
